Istanbul, Orient Express

Orient Express Sept 25

We caught a return train to the European side of Istanbul and got off near the old Orient Express train station. It is the famous 'end of the line' for the train that ran between Paris and Istanbul.

Now the old station is used as a museum and cafe and office rooms and a newer station is built beyond it which manages all the trains that still come in through this area. It was possible to see some of the old romance of that era too.

We then strolled along the 'old city' streets and enjoyed many day to day sights. So many shops, and people, and places so foreign to us. We didn't spend much time shopping, there are always too many aggressive salesmen and we don't enjoy that.
