A Surreal Day

Monday, monday.

After a refreshing sleep we woke to a rain freshened city. By the end of the day we were sailing the Pacific Ocean headed toward Cabo San Lucas.

We walked the harbour walk to see our ship awaiting our boarding. Too early to check in, we headed up Ash St. and onto India Ave to once more take in the charm of 'Little Italy'. We stopped at our favourite cafe, intending to have lunch but we were a bit early so had to order breakfast. A little more protein to keep us going for a few more hours.

At noon we were met by our shuttle driver and had all our luggage and us moved to the ship. Then we started the process of check-in. We were unburdened of our suitcases which were several hours later delivered to our rooms. We stood in long lines which quickly moved through check in – even down to signing a report that we have not had flu symptoms in the last 48 hours. We also walked through a checkpoint similar to getting on a plane where we had our hand luggage x-rayed and then we walked through the x-ray station too. At least we didn't have to take our shoes off. We were photographed in front of a scenic background (we can buy it for $20.) and then photographed again for ID. After all that we climbed the stairway and came aboard.

We are in 3028, Manky's are in 3030, and Chambers are in 3038, each with a large porthole window, more than 1 metre in diameter, for a view of the port side. That means we get to see Mexico all the way south.

It is a beautiful cruise ship. Other people who have cruised before are impressed by how well appointed the whole place is. Lots of marble and tile. The dining room is elegant and our appointed waiter is very accommodating.

We had a little snack in the Windjammer cafe and dinner in the dining room and then were well entertained in a large theatre. We listened to some great music near a central bar for a while, Jim and I sat out on the deck and looked at stars for a short time (it was chilly) and then decided it was time to retire to our very accommodating chambers.

Our room has a king bed, lots of drawers and closet space, many mirrors, a desk, tv, and a little settee. A very nice piece of art hangs over the settee. There are tons of light fixtures in our room too. A good sized bathroom is ours as well. Shower, cabinets, shelving, sink and toilet.

We will be very comfortable here.
