Monday Feb 28 - Last Day
What to do on our very last day...we thought we'd go back to our favourite swimming beach but instead decided to go to the second beach to our east. We had walked past it many times on our way to Zicatela Beach but we thought Playa Marinero would be a nice alternative.
The waves were stronger than they usually are. Although we were sitting back quite a ways off the beach we still managed to get salt water spray on our glasses and could feel the sea mist on our warm bodies.
We were happily sheltered under the shade of another unbrella, comfortable on the chaises and ready again to just be entertained by the passing people, thundering waves, and changing seascapes.
So many memories, highlighted by such gentle and hard working people. Their interaction with family and friends is lovely to watch.
So many gorgeous flowers, tree varieties, and local products to enjoy. We were amazed to find that they grow coffee and peanuts very close to this town. They are both highly prized because they are chemical free.Of course bananas, mangos, papayas, coconuts are all grown locally as well as most of their vegetables.
We enjoyed a simple meal tonight at home, finishing off our potatoes, eggs, onions and salsa. Fresh cucumber on the side and we were satisfied.
When we get lonely again for the sound of the thundering waves we'll have to make a quick trip to our west coast, only then we'll be bundled up in our heavy coats and shoes. Amazing what a difference a few thousand kilometres will do to the Pacific Ocean.
