All wet!

We are beginning to feel like our time is running out so we decided to go back to Carizalillo Beach because it really is the best swimming beach in the area. Cariz Beach is a small bay, bordered on both sides with large rock outcroppings. The golden sand is nicely coarse. We were not dissappointed.

Zic beach is so enjoyable just watching the awesome waves, but to be able to walk into the gentle surf and play like kids was the best. The water is perfect temperature and it's so easy to stay afloat in salt water. We ventured out twice and spent the rest of the time in 'adarondack' chairs... in the shade. Jim spent as much time in the water as I did so it was fun to enjoy that together.

We talked with a couple who are from Penticton. They had just talked to a young man who is from Osoyoos.

One old, thin Mexican man spent most of the day on the rocks beside the beach shucking oysters. He had a large bag full of shells and he broke them open, put the half shell on a plate with some limes, and carried a big bottle of hot sauce. Then he'd walk the beach and find a buyer. Pretty hard job for so little pay, I think a big plate was only $2.50 Cdn.

Yesterday we had walked up to Zic Beach again. We stopped at the cinema which also has book that you can buy or exchange 2 for 1. If you get to the cinema before 4pm you can watch whatever movies they have. We were there by one and no-one was using the cinema so we watched 'The King's Speech'. What a great movie and I thought Colin Firth was perfect in his role of King George VI.

After that we still had lots of time to go across the road and onto the beach where we found a chaise and enjoyed several hours watching surf and surfers.

Always the ocean beckons. It was good to realize that there is another element of enjoyment being in the water beyond just watching it.

  1. The King's Speech is far and away the best movie I've seen in YEARS - so glad you got out of the sun for a bit to enjoy it.

Must have been fun for you to have dad play in the water ... have you tried your snorkel again?
