Finally, I have found my blog, and some quiet time, and will try to catch up with the things I want to share.
We got up Sunday at 7 a.m. Tash drove us and our friends, Dave and Trudy Parsons, to the ferry. Jim and I had some breakfast aboard.
We were fortunate at
Tsawassen to catch a city bus which took us into Richmond. A very short ride on the ALR and we were at the airport by noon. Our flight didn't leave until after 6 p.m. So we had plenty of time to relax.
Alaska Air got us to Las Angeles shortly after midnight, we waited more hours, changed planes, and then were on our way to Mexico City. I think we arrived about 7 a.m. We had to change airlines there, waited until 3 in the afternoon and one hour later we were in P.E. it was a long tedious wait in both airports.I do not sleep in public so by now I'm getting pretty ragged.
We did have a fun time at breakfast in the Mex city airport. It took a while to find a good restaurant but as soon as we were seated they rushed us with corn bread (which has a caramel sauce poured over it, and a little pot of highly rummed eggnog sauce alongside). We decided to take 2 but somehow were served 3. Then they brought a nice orange juice drink so we took a couple. The guys ordered a 'real breakfast' and Trud and I opted for something lighter. We had a good chuckle about the great service, pots of coffee and general mayhem. It was all good.
We were met at P.E. by a church pastor and his wife. They are actually related to us through my second cousin (marvin mills). It was great to throw our luggage in the back and let them escort us to our new home.
We were so happy that our internet agreement of a place to rent turned out to be a wonderful find. It has 4 levels, 3 private living quarters, a swimming pool, laundry facility, lots of patios, purified water throughout, and is just fine in all aspects.
We looked at each other, paid the rentalsman and organized our living quarters. Of course we had no food so we went to the hotel right below us - jim and I know it well, and had a very nice supper. So relaxed, warm, and happy with our place. We walked back home, entered through a walled garage and locked gate and soon prepared for bed. We had been awake for 38 hours or more. It was a great sleep that night!
