Our plan this morning was to walk eastward and enjoy Zicatela Beach. In late summer the waves can come in at an incredible 6 metres high. Superior surfing championships take place here with contenders coming from all over the world. It's a great long beach so I'm sure it's fun to be part of that.
We, on the other hand, didn't even get in the water. Actually we're told the undercurrents are still strong even though the waves are much lower. Still fun to watch other people play.
We made ourselves cozy on lounge chairs - under the shade of an umbrella. The chairs are owned by cafes which are nestled in the background. If you buy a drink or some food you can use the lounges for as long as you want. So we ordered a drink, and then some lunch, and then another drink, and whiled away a few hours just relaxing, reading, and watching people. It cost us a total of $10. Cdn by the time we left!!
Hot and tired we plodded our way back to the center of town where I bought some groceries and Jim went to the bank to pull out more money!
By the time we'd walked back to our place we were hotter yet and ready for a cool shower. Somehow, even though we'd tried to keep to the shade (make that I), my legs are bright red. They'll probably be fine tomorrow. I had a good rest in the hammock and then we prepared to go out for our first evening 'on the town'.
We had been informed that a big restaurant was having tango dance demonstration and then a high wire act. It sounded like fun so we called a taxi and for $2.50 Cdn. we were taken right to the door. Well, true to form, the food was only okay, but the performance was quite enjoyable. The high wire act was especially fun. The troupe of 4 were from Argentina, very creative and humourous in their presentation.
It's good to be back to our abode.
I have no clue why the boat is in there sideways!!! Pat
