We boarded a small prop plane for our 1 plus hour flight to Puerto Escondido.
Immediately upon getting out of the plane we quickly take our jackets off. Now this is warm. The first warmth we've really felt for days. The heat goes right through to the bone and we definitely feel like this will kick the flu symptoms right out of our body(s).
It is necessary to take a taxi ride to our hotel, cheap by our standards,$3.50 each for him from us and 8 others.
Sybelle is waiting for us and shows us to our apartment. We like it. Very appropriate for simple living in the tropics. It has a fully tiled, clean bathroom (large stone pebbles for the shower floor. The main room has a king sized bed, two table, a couple of chairs, a settee and a set of bamboo shelves that we use to store our clothes, etc.
Our deck area is large and has a view of the ocean and surround trees. It also contains the cooking area and total kitchen. It will work fine for us as I don't plan to make grand meals. A great hammock hangs from corner to corner... I notice Jim has a preference for it! Great for siestas.
I can't do anything but strip down and fall onto the bed, Jim strips and climbs into the hammock. Probably two hours later we are ready for unpacking, showers - and life!
The hotel beside us has a cafe so we chose that for our first dinner. I was hoping the shrimp cocktail would be as fabulous as the ones we had in SanCarlos but not quite. So now we will be on a quest to find the perfect shrimp cocktail.
The sun has set the lighthouse flashes nearby, a gecko is on the patio wall and Jim is asleep. All seems right in our world.
this seems the best way to spend a january.
ReplyDeleteLooks great, though I can't help wondering if TWO pictures of dad in a speedo are really necessary. ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt certainly does look like the best place to recuperate!
