Our plan was to get up when we woke up, and we did.
We had nothing in our apartment to eat so our first real plan was to go buy some groceries. We walked uphill for about 1 km to the 'Super Che', the biggest department and grocery store around. We can see it from our rear deck so had the general idea of where we were going.
We saw a clean looking little cafe and decided we should probably have some breakfast before facing shopping. I had Mexican eggs (with tortillas) and Jim had a fruit plate with yogurt. We had a pleasant but stilted conversation with a Mexican couple who looked about our age.
We both ordered coffee with milk (in our best Spanish). Well the cup came, full of very hot milk, and we were given a container of instant coffee to add to the milk. So we had an easy latte!! It was good.
Across the busy street to Super Che and we shopped for the fundamental of a kitchen stock. Never found salt and pepper. They were out of limes and lemons. The meat will take a little more courage for me to try.
Somehow we managed to get out of there after spending approx. $100. Cdn. We had so many groceries we had to take a taxi back to our sweet hotel. Then we had to carry them up to the second floor. I guess that's our aerobic exericise for the day!
The little excursion was enough for us and so we lunched at home, rested, and stayed out of the mid-day sun.
We saw dolphins from our deck as they froliced in the ocean. Apparently there are whales and turtles to see too. We will probably hire a boat to see them - some day.
After 3 pm we went looking for a bank or bank machine. We found out they are back up near the Super Che so we will walk back there tomorrow. Instead, we walked through a small tourist zone and then on the beach. It is full of mostly Mexican tourists but their Christmas holidays will end this weekend. I think the beach will be quieter after that.
It was such fun to watch the young kids enjoy the surf. Nothing but laughter and screams. I was ready to go in too but didn't have the right clothes on/off.
There are so many beaches to chose from. This was the first beach just south of our apartment.
We're back home for a quiet evening. Still struggling with our head colds and sore throats but we are improving.
