August 6 and we sailed due west – with the wind on our nose! It was supposed to be from the south and help us along, but no such luck. Our new friend Peter says that wherever you sail here the wind will be on your nose! It has happened too frequently.
We arrived at Merihas town on Kithnos Island. It is quite a small village with lots of waterfront cafes and a few other stores. We are not very ambitious today so will just wander around the main town, not take a bus up the yet another Chora (and hope we won't be sorry). We had supper aboard and will go out for the evening and try to find an ice cream treat.
As it turned out, I found an internet cafe and stopped to work on my blog, etc. This cafe didn't happen to serve desserts so the rest of the crew wandered off and I stay to complete my 'business'.
Jim, Marg and Dave found a little ice cream place and decided to order there. They had coffees and J and M ordered apple pie and D had a big bowl of ice cream. They were so impressed with the wonderful apple pie, is was filled with layers of apples, deep, and just delicious. Jim had ordered ice cream with his, the waitress double checked what he wanted but perhaps didn't fully understand. It came with 3 balls of ice cream, and massive whipped cream all around the rest of the plate. Marg's came plain, as she intended to take some of Dave's ice cream to decorate hers. They were thoroughly pleased. When they came back to my cafe I was still sitting there, typing, and no one had come to my table to ask me if I wanted to order anything. They were certainly busy serving many people who were sitting across the street by the waterfront.
That was it for Serifos. Early next morning we were up and away,
I bet Jim ordered it like that...
ReplyDeleteNo one brought you any take-away? No fun! I meant to tell you Cowboy & I had a "Greek" moment in San Fran ... I was exclaiming over a very interesting looking treat at the corner store next to our hotel (Sweet Chili Dried Mango - amazing combo!) and the clerk said "you like - you take it!" - so we did, and thoroughly enjoyed!
