It's late Saturday night, well, early Sunday morning. It is the last night of vacation for many people here, including locals. From a distance I can hear muffled music and rhythm pounding through the night air. It must be deafening in some of the bars. Add to that an occassional dog barking, car horn honking, rooster crowing, and a bird's whistle piercing the night you can pretty well understand that I am no longer asleep.
Early morning Jim and I arise, have breakfast and then choose a new hike today. It will take us several kilometres to get there, half of it on rock and cement stairways. We check out # 1, and then #2, but it is #3 we are looking for and that requires another hike, first back to the top of the staircase, following more trails, asking directions as we go along and finally finding stairway #3 and decending. All the bays and coves are charming but we immediately are taken with Playa Carrizalillo. It is a sheltered cove, the water is turquoise and the gently rolling waves are perfect.
It was such fun to watch vacationers practice on various boards or just jump in the water and be buoyed around in the surf. The beach is totally sand. The backdrop to the beach is lined entirely with little eateries where one can sit in the shade (if desired) and order food or drink. That was our choice today as we are still recuperating.
A man our age approached us and asked if life could be anymore wonderful. Turns out he's from Comox! He agreed that we live in a great place but right now we also agreed that this bay was idyllic. He told us that the stairway back up is 170 steps... we hadn't counted on the way down.
By the time we walked back to our place we needed a shower - and some relax time... and so I blog.
My goodness - it sounds like you hiked before the hike even. It's great fun reading about all your adventures. I hope you've got great shoes!
