Beach Club

Wed. Feb. The time seems to be flying by..
What with several concerns on the 'homeland' we are a little distracted. Life does not seem to go by without times to stop and reflect... and pray!

We have had a few more lessons. For weeks we've wanted to go to the Coco Beach Club - not knowing exactly what it would be like but the beach is beautiful and not many people there. So Monday was the appointed day. In latish afternoon we took a taxi there and he let us off right at the gate. We could see the place looked like paradise. Well, paradise costs money... $11 each admission fee but okay, that gave us the rights to chairs and tables and pool, etc. Who wants a pool when there is a beach?? We staked our place on hammock and chair.

It seemed most of the people there were European, no one was friendly, and not even the waiter came to ask us if we wanted anything.

We walked the beach and played in the ocean for a little while. Wonderful. Then we went back to the club and showered beside the pool to get the salt water off.
This was late afternoon so quite a few people were leaving and we now found chaises near the ocean view which we sat in for the rest of our time there.

By the time we actually left, the place was deserted! Not even a waiter around or someone who could phone a taxi for us. Very weird. We followed the brick path upward toward the main highway. We ended up at a huge hotel which we now assume is attached to that specific beach club. It was a very nice place. A young employee inside escorted us to the front door though, I guess he realized we didn't belong there!

As always, the sunset was well worth the 'effort', we never tire of watching the variety and beauty of each sunset.

We started to walk home and quickly a taxi came along and picked us up. To our surprise and pleasure this man spoke English well and so we chatted with him right to our 'casa'.

  1. Doesn't sound like you'll be heading back to that beach anytime soon!

  2. The beach is very long, the club only has a small area of it. It's definitely worth a trip back! Just not right there. There's another club up the way that is every bit as nice and nowhere near as expensive so we might get to try that.
