A matinee at Chemainus

I would like to have used a title that said 'An evening at the opera' but our date was pleasing different.
We drove to Chemainus with friends Henry and Sharron and Charlotte. We went early enough in the day to have a little drive around and walk around and then a picnic lunch in the main park.
Nearby a musician was playing nice music.
We shared good food and warm drinks. I had made a jug of iced tea too but it was too cool for anyone to want to indulge.
The afternoon attraction was 'Oklahoma'. It was very well done, lots of music, humour, drama, dancing and costuming. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. It brought back old songs that I hadn't thought of in years. Don't be surprised if I'm humming them next time you see me. That's songs like - Old Jen is dead, a candle lights his head... The farmers and the cowboys should be friends.... Everything's up to date in Kansas City.... and a charming rendition of, People will say we're in love!
It's great to get out to a live production now and then.
In fact, we're going again in a couple of weeks to see Shirley Valentine (this will be about the 4th time). Because she runs off to Greece to find herself we think that's a good reason see it again!
We will soon be finding ourselves in Greece too.

  1. OH - I didn't realise when we were talking about Oklahoma a la Chemainus that you've already seen it. Can't wait to do some humming myself!

    Enjoy Shirley this week!

  2. Wow, you are already there. We have been to Red Deer and are back in the real world - washing clothes, ironing, cutting grass, etc. Very enjoyable time. Gene wonders if you are interested in heading out in October to Branson, Nashville, etc for a couple of months - something to think about if you get bored. Ha Ha Have fun U 4 and keep safe.
