Elafonisos Island

August 12, 2009

We had an easy morning and sailed around the first finger of the bottom of the Peloponnes and found a wonderful anchor spot in a gorgeous bay. It really seems like we're in the Carribean – except no palm trees. We see lots of creamy sand, beautiful turquoise water (because it's shallow) and lots of interesting boats anchored in this gorgeous bay. It is Frangos bay on Elafonisos Island, a very southern point of Greece.

As we entered there were 2 large black British sailboats anchored. Lots of money there!

The beach had at least 100 umbrellas and lounge chairs in one area and about 80 umbrellas with chairs on the other area. We were in the first bay and only a sandy spit divided us from a second bay that looked busier than this one.

We anchored and then quickly changed to bathing suits and got in the water. Dave is always first in as he likes to snorkle/dive out and check the anchor holding. Good thing he's such a good swimmer.

So we paddled around in the water for some time, showered on the rear of the boat, hung up the wet things and stopped for a drink and snack. Such is life.
