Monomvasia, Peloponese, Greece

August 11, 2009 and anchored in Monomvasia. Sunny and warm, water is inviting. There are a few more fish underwater here than we've seen at most stops. What a lovely sail we had again. We really know we are out of the Meltemi winds and into the Mediterranean.

Jim and I were dinghied ashore and we caught a bus up to the 'old village'. It is situated on a rock island (they call it the little Gibralter) and it is quite a glamourous updated place – compared to what we are used to seeing as an old village.

We enjoyed our visit there anyway. Jim decided to hike to the hills above where he could actually see some old Byzantine ruins. I chose to stay around the shops and take life easy (had an awesome frappe).

When we got back to the main town we saw M & D on the streets so called them in to a fabulous little bakery that we just happened to be sitting in! We all enjoyed a piece of decadent dessert and then went off to buy groceries for the boat.

It was an easy relaxed evening on board, with some wi-fi available from land. Of course my computer died before I managed to upload much. So now we have to wait for another day or so.
