Pylios Aug 18

Photos to come on the 19th.

We motored for 2 hours and arrived at Pylios where we tied up in the marina. Within 10 minutes we were being filled with diesel. 190 Euros. Not bad for 3 weeks of accommodation and travel.

Jim had a chat with a neighbouring couple on another British boat (Quintessence). I think he may be from Ireland. They seem a little older than us, they live on their boat full time. It's fun to meet other yachties. It is a lot like meeting other rvers. They all exchange information and helpful hints – I.e.where to find water, fuel, anchorages, etc.

Jim and I needed to relax for the afternoon but Marg and Dave valiently (in the heat) went to shore and scouted out marine store, laundry and post office. They had to go to shore anyway to check in at the marina headquarters so they were well on their way.

About 6 pm we decided it was cool enough to venture into town. We tried to find a part at a hardware store and, upon walking in to one place, the owner immediately handed us each a cup of some yellow juice drink. He said it was good and refreshing for us. I don't know if he thought we looked too hot or what but we did appreciate his generosity.

Dave and Marg met us at 8 pm and we had gyros at a little shop. A very cheap and flavourful meal. We then picked up some more veggies and fruit and wandered back to the boat in the dark.

We are having a hard time cooling off tonight. Cool showers, cold water drinks, and the fans are on but not a lot of relief. It really is only about 31 C but I think the humidity is higher than average and not enough breeze to cool the skin – so we suffer – out loud.

  1. Wow, you finally got too hot - I wondered if it would ever happen. I'm sure as you move on to touring Turkey there will be many days like that.
Yet another beautiful day in Greece - take a nice swim for me.

  3. It was near 30 at home again today mom, so you're not missing much and have a MUCH more appealing sea to jump into. :)
